Is this good news or bad news for a prospective trade. Could it be that he may be traded without the long term deal up front?

I think it makes a trade easier. He's on board as part of the Chargers for this coming season, so he's live bait to be traded now.

        My pre-draft prediction-

Turner will be traded on Draft day after the Browns take Peterson, the Bills take a player on D, and the Packers take Lynch. He'll be a Buffalo Bill for our 2nd this year, and a 2nd or 3rd next year. ......like I said, it's just a prediction.

I've been saying that for the past month.

Smith's setting up to dump him on Saturday. It'll be interesting to see how high the bidding goes, and who wins.

Our picks are earlier than the Titans in every round.

I was thinking the timing of this suggests a trade is imminent, and now there are other rumors flying, judging by the other threads that have popped up

I am not predicting. I don't know if something will happen or not.

He could sign the tender later and still be traded.

People are reading too much into this. There are a bunch of RFA that have signed their contracts, because the RFA signing period ended and they can't sign with anyone else.

I think this is meaningless ... he would have had to sign it to be traded anyways, right?

Update, from the Nashville City Paper:

Turner’s agent Bus Cook confirmed to The City Paper that Turner had signed the tender, but was not an indication of a looming trade in the works.

“I wouldn’t necessarily think that means anything is going to happen,” Cook said.

The Tennessee Titans are one of the teams interesting in acquiring the running back, and could even be the front-runner, though the Buffalo Bills are still believed to be in the running for Turner as well.

From the San Diego Union Tribune:

Bus Cook, Turner's agent, said yesterday he is not actively discussing a contract with any teams. A team trading for Turner would want to know it could sign him to a long-term deal before giving the Chargers draft picks.

Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt told the Tennessean newspaper he and Cook were close enough on their numbers that the team could confidently trade for Turner...

Smith never expected a team to sign Turner as a free agent, but the first and third was a starting point for trade talks. Smith believes a suitor for Turner could wait until tomorrow's first round of the draft to make its best offer.

If Buffalo selects at number 12 and does not trade up or down nor does it take a RB I can see Turner being traded soon after the Titans pick at 19. I think the Chargers are holding out to see if they can get the Titans #1 pick from them. If not they will then go with the best offer. I feel he will be traded before the Chargers first round pick.
