    Bruce Smith To Announce Bills First Pick In 2007 Draft

    Smith commented, "We will be at this year's Draft to honor the victims of this tragedy and to the whole Virginia Tech family. It's just a sad occasion, one in which we're still searching for answers and reasons for why this took place. All of us in 'The Hokie Nation' are heartbroken. As far as the league asking me to announce the Bills pick, I consider it to be an honor. To be able to make the announcement on who the Bills will take with their first-round selection in the 2007 Draft, wow, I'm speechless."

    Good for Bruce! Its a good thing by the NFL too, to honor the victims in this way and Goodell shows a break from tradition in his first draft as NFL Commisioner.

            Wow! That is absolutely awesome. I can't wait to see Bruuuuuce up there. Good idea by the NFL. Why not have each team get a legend from its past to announce its first pick? It would be cool.

                Its a VT thing thats why. Vick and Hall will be there as well.
                I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
                "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
                You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                It was all                 true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
                He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can                 mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

                          Bruce Smith To Announce Bills First Pick In 2007 Draft

                          Orchard Park, NY--Bruce Smith will announce the Bills first-round selection in Saturday's NFL Draft. The league informed the Bills organization that the all-time leader in sacks has agreed to make the announcement at the podium after the team makes its first pick.

                          Smith was invited to this year's Draft, along with Virginia Tech Head Coach Frank Beamer and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and cornerback DeAngelo Hall. All three players were collegiate standouts at Virginia Tech and Smith was the number one overall pick in the 1985 Draft by the Bills. The league invited the four as part of its "Salute to Virginia Tech."
