Dexter Jackson signs with the Cards

Jan. 26 was the date Dexter Jackson will never forget. But Wednesday may be more memorable for the Super Bowl MVP in the long term.

SportsLine.com has learned that Tampa Bay's Jackson has agreed to a five-year, $14.5 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals. The deal, which includes a $2.7 million signing bonus, will pay Jackson $9.5 million over the first three years, making him the second highest paid free safety in the NFL.

But the contract is not even the highlight of the day for Jackson. As the Cardinals prepare to announce the signing, Jackson's wife is in labor with the couple's first child.

Earlier in the week, reports stated Jackson was headed to Pittsburgh, but Arizona made a strong push as the week progressed.

The Cardinals last year also made a big splash in free agency to shore up their secondary with the signing of former Raven Duane Starks
