Not sure he was worth the #1 pick but we needed an RB. However IMO he's not a franchise RB and won't be here past the 4 year contract.

I'd rather have him than AP (said so BEFORE the pick, as well). AP is going to miss a few games w/ that style of his, and Lynch can catch.

Great pick; much better than going for a corner. We all probably would have rather had Willis, but hey...

Tough call - Willis would have been my pick but he was gone - to be honest I probably would have traded down.

Yeah it is a tough call. The bills needed a RB and i was all set to take pittman in the 2nd rd. I guess thats why you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket.

I do like the lynch pick though could be worse though we could be the dolphins.

Are you saying that there was a deal in the works?

Who was it with?

What were they offering?

Dallas was offering Marv a fun filled weekend in Vegas with their cheerleaders, all expenses paid.

What do you base this on?

Mr. Cynical
04-28-2007, 02:07 PM
What do you base this on?

Watching alot of his games on TiVo. He's "good" but not "special". He does alot of things "well" but not "great". So I think he should be a steady, versatile RB for us, no question, but it's not like "WOW, we just got a great player". When you use your #12 on your starting RB, IMO you should be getting that wow feeling...JM2c

I wanted Willis but we got the next best thing.

Lynch sounds a hell of alot better than Leon Hall or Paul Poluszny at #12.

Cleveland was looking to move up to #12, per Savage. The Browns didn't offer enough to get there, per Marv.

Two pretty good sources in my book.

Just out of curiosity who was the 3rd ranked RB? Because he's still on the board. That kind of tells me that we did pretty good.

I hate to say it but I agree. I think he'll hover around 1K, and while that is competent it's not what you should expect from a #12 pick. History shows the of all the positions, RB is one you can get good results from in later rounds.

Mr. Cynical

They had to take a back.

We have nothing at that position.

A journeyman, and a midget, by NFL standards.

It was a good pick.

Lynch was the very best pick for us at 12. We didn't reach for the next best LB after Willis, and we didn't take a corner or another position of far less need.

Only time will tell, but Lynch may turn out to be better than Peterson. I think he will take the pounding that an every down back gets far better than AP.

Let's give lynch the benefit of a some real NFL games before we form opinions about how good he is. This cat can ball and a 6.1 ypc average is pretty good, be patient.

Guy sounds (both figuratively and literally) like Travis Henry, but with better hands, more speed and more size. I am referring to his heart. He has great balance and doesn't go down from the first hit usually. That is the kind of back most Buffalo fans love. I don't have many doubts about his football skills and think he could do very well. I just hope the character issues don't spring up.
