that's not bad for colvin, I knew he wouldn't get spikes type money. He only had 60 tackles, though he did have the ten sacks. he's not a monster defender like spikes.

True, Colvin was one-dimensional. One pro personnel director told the Chicago Tribune: "Colvin excels at one thing -- pass rushing. He is a top-notch pass rusher and an average linebacker. He has good pursuit from the backside, but he doesn't have good lateral movement or coverage skills." But that just happens to be the one dimension that the Bears desperately need.

from espn insiders..

i really think we got a way better deal with posey.. he had 1.5 less sacks, and more tackles.. and started 9 games compaired to colvins 15 i think..

I just hope Posey can do this year what he did last year.

no reason to think that he can't.. colvin would have been the same risk.. just cost more.

I think it's unfair to criticize Colvin for his play in Chicago. Obviously you can have him russ the passer almost every pass when you have a guy like Urlacher who can go sideline to sideline.

NE got two steals in my book, with him and Harrison.

if urlacher is side to side..and fletcher is side to side...and colvin is a pass rusher....

what term best applies to spikes?

i dont think they are being unfair to colvin.. when he was not rushing the passer.. he was worthless.. he couldnt cover anyone.. and he is not a good tackler against the run.. film shows this.. how is that being unfair to him?

Fletcher and Spikes together will Destroy Fu** and Kill all who dare to run and cut. Posey will crash the back feild and show the enemy the horror of pain.

Spikes and Colvin shouldn't be spoken in the same sentence together.

maybe, but it is obvious that spikes is a completely different lb.. i am confident that if you lined spikes up and sent him after the qb on every play, he could get 10 sacks too.

but he can also cover, and tackle well.

Posey had 8 sacks in less playing time and virtually as many total tackles, and an INT. At $1.6M a year versus $4.1M a year, he's the one who is dirt cheap.

The thing about Posey's contract is it gets far more expensive if he performs. He has $625K per season in escalators which are tied to sacks, so he could earn an additional $1.875M in in the course of the deal. Still a bargain.
