"We would love to have been able to be in the position to draft a cornerback," Levy said. "At the time we picked it just didn't fit, given who was there and given the many things we discussed. Yes this is an opportunity now for Ashton Youbotyhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4754#) and Jabari Greerhttp://www.buffalobills.com/images/relatedicon.gif (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=4754#) and the others on our team to step up. We won't stop looking, but I don't know how much there is in free agency. It's unlikely that we'll make a trade. There were needs we had to fill. Have we fully filled that one? No."

I think we had a good draft. My only gripe is that this team didn't make a move to grab a CB. Unless, Youboty/Greer suprise or they find a diamond in UFA the secondary could cost the Bills a few games this year.

Hughes instead of that qb, Polian took him the next pick. The guys just won a superbowl and has picked lower round cbs forever. He runs our defense and just won the superbowl. Im sorry i liked the draft but we should have drafted Hughes.

I'd feel better about the draft if they had picked Hughes

The Team Still Has a Hole at Cornerback...and Marv Agrees

Marv never said that there was a "hole" at cornerback.

Marv never said that there was a "hole" at cornerback.

You are right he never used the word "hole." He just said that it was still a need that hasn't yet been filled. whats the difference?

A "hole" would imply that we need to find a starter for the position that is not yet on the team.

Marv implied that there were not enough quality players at the position for good depth.

It's tough; we really had too many holes to fill for 1 draft to take care of it.

I disagree that Trent Edwards was a luxury pick (not that anyone on this thread has really said that, but it's kind of what I'm hearing on other threads). We were very thin at the QB position w/ Holcomb gone. Good teams have good backups, for the most part, and while it's true Edwards will have no immediate impact, we're putting a lot of faith in JP based one one good half of a season.

Still, the CB question does nag at me. We're probably one year away from being a true contender (considering not just the CB position, but the overall youth of our team)...
