    Buffalo Bills Draft: MY Take..

What needs to be said immediately is the Bills found themselves in a very bad spot with the 12th pick in the draft. Guys they really coveted like Adrian Peterson and Patrick Willis were sure to be gone before being on the clock (and they were). Darrelle Revis and Dwayne Bowe were talents the Bills could surely used, but the 12th pick would’ve brought poor value.

So considering team’s needs combined with draft position I think Marshawn Lynch was about as good a pick as any reasonable fan could’ve hoped for. MORE

Good value. Isn't that a crock of s**t? You mean to tell me you need a player but you don't draft him because some numbnut media guy doesn't think it's good value??? The sports media is given waaayyyyyy too much importance these days.

Re: Buffalo Bills Draft: MY Take..

To me, a cornerback with the 12th overall pick in the draft when you play a zone-based cover two defense is poor value.

Now, if this was Jerry Gray's defense; Then I think Reevis in the 1st and David Harris in the second would be as good as it gets.

But if your playing a cover two, a LB that can move and cover spots of the field in pass coverage and play in space against the run is the better pick.

I still wish we had drafted a corner in round three (Hughes) but I'm GLAD we didnt take Reevis in round one.

Me too. I was going crazy when Hughes was still on the board, I was sure he was going to be our pick. The fact that the Polian/the Colts snapped him up confirms that he's cut out as a solid cover 2 corner.

I'm not pissed that we took Edwards instead. I would have done it differently myself, but I certainly see the logic in having another solid QB on the roster, and we're more likely to get a real good one at a reasonable $$ this way than through FA. And a lot of people had Edwards rated way higher than the late third round, so it may have been a steal.

Bottom line for me is that I would have felt better about THIS year with Hughes instead of Edwards, as I think it more likely that Hughes would have an impact as a nickel back or special teamer than it is that Edwards will even see the field. but in the longer term, Edwards could pay big dividends. At minimum, if he looks good it will give us negotiating leverage with Losman that we don't currently have.

It is a blog.. A blog that was written during lunch hour nonetheless.

But just a little FYI. I have had several articles published by Fox Sports over the past few years, and not of the "blog" variety. I've written recently for a couple of reputable publication and websites including scout.com and yahoo sports. I've also covered the Buffalo Bills full-time on two seperate occasions with a possible third on the way this summer.

I'm no Peter King obviously, but I'm also not the idiot junior journalist that a select few nuthuggers on here like to make out as well.

Thanks for the insult anyway though :)

I personally take solace in NOT being Peter King. You should too.

That was a good analysis in your blog.
