Lynch was named conference POW for his performance against Washington that day. This clip also shows him running in for the winning TD in OT. He was running on two sprained ankles.

The golf-cart stunt surprised those who knew Lynch, because he abhors calling attention to himself. Before the season, when the Cal sports information department planned to promote Lynch on a computer mousepad, he balked.
"I don't like it," he said.
"Why not?" assistant media relations director John Sudsbury asked.
After some back-and-forth, he pulled it out of Lynch: He didn't want the school to distribute anything featuring his image.
But Sudsbury gave it one more shot. "What can we do instead?" he asked.
"If you put my teammates on it," Lynch said, "that might be OK."
There wasn't enough room on the mousepad for everybody, so Sudsbury asked, "How about the three tailbacks?"
Lynch said it was fine — then immediately went to find teammates Forsett and Marcus O'Keith for their approval. The Golden Bears ended up producing a mousepad called "Tailback Triple Threat."
"He doesn't want to be in the limelight," Forsett says. "Thinking of us like that made us feel special. It showed he really cared about us. But that's the way he is. He's a humble guy and makes you feel like you're important, even if you're a fifth-stringer. He's somebody you can say is your true brother."Comment

Here's highlights from the Cal Holiday Bowl 2006 over Texas A&M
Goto 1:17 and you'll see Cal line up at the 2 with Lynch lined up in shotgun as the QB with 3 WRs. He takes the snap and just runs it in for the TD. Fairchild has got to be pissing in his pants right now thinking about all the ways he can use this kid. There's some other good Lynch highlights in there also. Cal can't be too upset about losing Lynch since it looks like Forsett will pick up where he left off.

I have one of those mousepads
The printing that they used interferes with my optical mouse, so I don't use it.
If you were to take a poll of Cal fans, I think they'd overwhelmingly want Lynch back for another year over having Forsett be the featured back. That's not really a knock on Forsett, but a testament to how highly we regard Marshawn's abilities. Forsett's style is more like JJ Arrington's; he's shifty and hits the hole quickly. Marshawn is more of a juker and is better at creating something out of nothing. That was better suited to our offense last year, as our line had some difficulty performing up to the level that our 2004-5 lines did (Aaron Merz was a large part of that success). Forsett ought to have an easier time of it next year with a more experienced line. Cal also has a few really good RBs coming off their redshirts in Montgomery and Slocum, and a couple of extremely talented incoming freshmen in Best and Vareen.Comment
