Just because he can a fast 40 doesn't mean he can cover anyone who runs a route other than a "go long". It doesn't even imply that he has a quick recovery speed. It just means he runs really fast in a straight line for 40 yards under non-football conditions.

That being said, I hope he blows us all away with his abilities at DB.

I agree. Far too much emphasis is put on timed speed on a track in shorts and a T-shirt, and too little on football instincts, abilities and productivity.

But speed is certainly a good quality for a CB.

A very fast UDFA = a very fast camp fodder.

I'm not sure where those times come from, but the times I have are:

Combine

4.52 and 4.6 in 40

18 bench presses

35.5 Vertical Jump

10-0 Broad Jump

4.51 Short Shuttle

7.18 Cone Drill

Pro Day:

4.52 and 4.53 in 40

4.34 Short Shuttle

7.17 Cone Drill

38 Inch Vertical

10-1 Broad Jump

BTW, Coleman was arrested in December 2006 for possession of Marijuana and was suspended for the Music City Bowl

Same stuff I got from the source I use...sounds like a bad apple to me, and slow for a CB

It's only 40 yards from the field to the parking lot so when he gets cut he should be exciting to watch.

Most say he has a shot of being a decent Cover 2 corner.....Depth is what we need .....Special teams will be his way on the roster then we will see what happens.

does anyone know if there has ever been a UDFA CB who has become a reliable starter in the NFL?

Pat Williams and Preist Holmes are both pretty good. How about Jason Peters?

Randall Gay from the Pats I believe went undrafted. I would take him now over some of our DB's

Gay has been injured since that one half year he played. If I knew he'd stay healthy, I'd take him.
