Draft turned Buffalo's backfield into a strength

If Wright can stay healthy in the future, he might be considered among the best value choices of the 2007 class. ESPN's Mel Kiper actually compared Wright to an epic second-day steal of the past, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who was a sixth-round pick. It's unfair to expect Wright and his 4.66 speed to have a Brady-like impact, but he could truly be the thunder to the lightning Lynch supplies for the Bills in the future.
It's hard to believe that the running back position was, for lack of a better phrase, an on-paper disaster in Buffalo just a week ago. Now, it has the potential to be one of the most versatile three-headed ground attacks in the NFL both next season and in the coming years.
Between Lynch, Thomas and Wright, there is a lot of backfield talent for the Bills' offense, and that will especially benefit quarterback J.P. Losman, whose only dependable weapon in 2006 was No. 1 receiver Lee Evans.
Thunder and Lightning with the A Train running its scheduled routes. A weakness becomes a strength. Get ready for 40+ rushes a game, kids!

On paper the potential looks promising. They need to put points on the board, though.

It all needs to be proven on the field but it sure looks promising.

Prior to the draft, I heard all the happy talk about how we'd be fine with A-Train. I knew that was nothing more than the Bills blowing smoke. We were in dire need of RB help.

With Lynch and Wright here, I feel tons better about getting some postive yards in our ground game. Wright does have short yardage potential and did prove in 2006 that he was once again an effective player with 1462 yards, 11 TD's and the abillity to catch out of the backfield.

Run the ball and control the clock. Helps keep our own D fresh. Win/win.

Plus it opens up things for Losman and the passing game. Win/win/win.

Maybe smokescreens actually work. Green Bay didn't feel the need to move up to grab Lynch because they thought the Bills didn't want him?? Nice!

The draft put the horses in the stable

the OL FA aquisitions and the play of Peters, and Fowler should defintiely give our offense a completely new identity.
