ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions announced Thursday they have re-signed unrestricted free-agent guard Ray Brown. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Brown signed with Detroit last summer and played all 16 games for the Lions in 2002. Brown, who will be entering his 18th pro season, started his career by playing three seasons with the Cardinals organization -- two in St. Louis and one in Arizona when the club was known as the Phoenix Cardinals. He has also spent time with Washington and San Francisco.

The 40-year-old Brown, an Arkansas State graduate, has played in one championship game during his long career. Brown was a part of the 1997 49ers squad that lost the 1998 NFC title game to the Green Bay Packers, who would eventually go on to lose the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos.
