Panthers agree to terms with RB Stephen Davis on $15M deal

While the Washington Redskins spend freely, one of their stars sacrificed in a salary cap purge is about to find a home not too far away from his previous employer.

Several Carolina Panthers and league sources told SportsLine.com the Panthers and free-agent running back Stephen Davis have agreed to terms on a five-year, $15 million deal, which includes a signing bonus of $2.5 million. The deal also includes several incentives that could add significantly to the total should Davis produce at a high level.

When contacted regarding such a deal, head coach John Fox said no deal was done, but an agreement had been reached and should be finalized Thursday. Davis was brought back in for a second meeting with the team and spent time talking to members of the Richardson family -- the family that owns the team.
