All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Who won the first game of the Eastern Conference last year in a away game?

That was the EC semi's, this is the EC finals like last year. First game wins and losses mean little it jut goes to show you as well. It's how you play your last game, not your first. I thought Ottawa was great one game this season and terrible the next. They really played well tonight and waited for us to make a mistake, we'll just shoot more on emery and force him to move. Emery is a lousy mover and likes to fall flat and reach, we'll take advantage of that.

Did you know that the Sabres have ONLY won 1 series where they didn't win the first game with Lindy Ruff as the coach? 1 freaking series!

you've been reading too many of last year's press clippings....they have lessened his movement significantly.
For all the education and practice each of us undergoes, the achievment of mastery is ultimately the outcome of a personal quest for understanding.

Skooby, your analysis is terrible. You always make comparisons to other teams in other years, and you support that analysis with selective examples.
You never compare the way the current Senators are playing to the way the current Sabres are playing.
Every time there is some adversity or we have to play a tough team, you go on this desperate search for statistics and examples to reassure yourself and you ignore any data that's contrary to your preferred outcome.
Re: Who won the first game of the Eastern Conference last year in a away game?
I'm judging this team by their efforts in this years playoffs.
There is something very wrong with the team and its efforts here. I keep hoping that a new team will arise form the ice and play the brand of dominating hockey befitting of an eventual champion.... but they just haven't risen yet.
There is no way this team can move on if powerplay's represent an advatage for the other team, something has to be adjusted or changed.
Here's hoping that a different team shows up Saturday.

It's really getting old.
Dude you have to realize that you take away this last game and look at the whole picture, we had a bad game. Lindy tried some different things and our PP was very predictable and they we're waiting for us. It wasn't like we got blown out all game or we didn't have great chances to take the lead. Kalinin sat out practice hurt today from "bumps and bruises" and really didn't help our cause much but things like that happen. Plan on Saturday being a new night and us giving our worst effort the in the first game versus the last of this series. It's all we really can ask for.

Miller got owned by the Senators all year and we've had a lot of bad games throughout the playoffs. This team hasn't showed up yet and you just expect them to miraculously start playing up to their level again for no apparent reason.
And F Khalinin- the first two goals were both his fault.

Op, I expect them to use the talent they have consistently. We have a very deep team and we cannot expect everyone to play perfect every shift but if we get some extraordinary efforts from one or 2 different lines a night it should be enough to wins games. It isn't like we're talentless, it's more like we're effortless.
Re: Who won the first game of the Eastern Conference last year in a away game?
There's no h in Kalinin.
Skooby ignores the fact that Ottawa has been playing the best hockey in the East in the playoffs, and that not always the best teams win, but the hungrier/hotter team does. Ottawa looks like a completely different team from past playoffs, and they are the most confident team in the playoffs.
Our powerplay is terrible and our penalty kill isn't much better. The effort has been terrible for a lot of the playoffs.
I agree though that it is just one game and anything can happen in a best-of-7 series, but dismissing Ottawa as a team who we can beat without giving 100% is just stupid.
In the playoffs as a whole, the Sabres have had as many bad games as they have good ones. That kind of inconsistency won't work vs a team that just eliminated Marty Broduer.
