Obviously, they can not lose the next two but assuming there is a chance...what would it take?

I think they have they have to win the next three...if they go into Ottawa down 3-2 it would be next to impossible.

A full effort for 60 minutes would be nice. One game at a time.

I agree about the effort. They knew they had to win game 2 and almost seem settles with a 2 goal lead and went back into its shell...The effort was better than game 1 but they still went soft and sloppy (aka mental errors) after coming our hard for the first 12 minutes..

A miracle.

More aggressive play....taking advantage of power play situations...not expecting Miller to save their ass in every game.

Agreed, it almost seemed like they relied on Miller after they built the lead. They say the best defense is a good offense. They did that for 12 minutes and then stopped.

1. Stop letting up. They got a 2-0 lead and it seemed like they stopped attacking.
2. Fix the special teams.
3. Stop with the bad passes from their own blue line to the center ice line.
4. Continue to stop with the turnovers.
5. Shoot the puck on net. How many shots were wide last night.

They've got to be smarter. They're being killed by bad decisions ... no-look passing, passing when they should skate, skating when they should pass, passing to the wrong guy, general indecision.
And they need to be more aggressive and take it to the body more. They're just pylons out there when Ottawa has the puck.

miller dropped his first "B" game since the loss to the islanders. He was fighting the puck all night.

We need him to bring his "A" game to ottawa, and the team to replicate the effort last night

They also need to get motivated. Where is the Sabres team from earlier in the year that won the most games in the league? Where's the Sabres team that was motivated and fought hard for every period? Where's the effort? where's the intensity? It's all missing. If that comes back, like it did in Game 5 and Game 6 in the last round...anything is possible!

It seemed to me that they really stopped playing after Ottawa scored their first goal....Like they expected to shut them out.

Watching "On the Fly" on the Vs. which is really the NHL channel (I would love Dish to get that channel, I would masterbate to that channel instead of porn), the announcer on there said it perfectly..."The Sabres just stopped competing at times in the this game"

Hate to say it but Game 2 was nothing more than lady luck not shining on us. We deserve to lose game 1 but easily could have won game 2.

If we want to be upset, be upset with the performance in Game 1 forcing us into a must win situation. Playing at home should be motivation enough.

I personally think we are done.

Heart, Motivation, Determination, Effort.

This team skated through the regular season playing a period to a period and a half and just burying teams. No one noticed and/or cared that they'd come out flat for entire periods because either A. they had the game well in hand or B. they ended up coming back late to win it.

As we're all noticing, that's not cutting it in this series. Problem is, this is the way they've played all year. Can it really be fixed?

And the powerplay has been attrocious for most of the season, it should surprise no one that they're having so much difficulties in this series either.

I'm not a Sabres fan at all, far from it actually, but I can't stand the Senators. After watching how they stymied the Penguins all series long, I figured they would present and almost unsurmountable task for the Sabres to handle. The Pens and Sabs are both very similiar styled teams.

With all that being said, I still have hope that the Sabres decide they need to play 60 minutes a night...maybe get lucky on a PP or 2...and bring back the style of EVERYONE selling out and going down to block shots.

I believe!

What would it take for Buffalo to come back and win the series?

4 wins.

Seriously though, special teams is killing us right now, we can't kill penalties off and we can't buy a goal on the PP. We need to find a way to stop the CASH line too.

1. Stop dancing with the puck and SHOOT!
2. Improve on the power play by emphasizing reason 1.
3. Don't take stupid penalties like holding or interference.
4. Get traffic in front of Emery and take the shot, hope for rebounds.
5. Dump the puck into their zone, make sure one of our guys gets to it before they do.
6. And most importantly Buffalo has to want it more and play a full 60 minutes.

Oh yeah, one more thing....

The HSBC Arena people need to melt down all of the ice that they have and start over. That ice has been horrible in this round and even before. Way too much bouncing of the puck, and it seems like everyone is falling on it. I'd like to see a fresh new smooth surface on Saturday, if we have a game 5.

ST's are the main thing- if we can score on the PP and restrict their PP, the rest of these issues will work themselves out.

This series is over in 5 games. Maybe our special teams will do a 180 and show up but I doubt it. Those things don't fix overnight.
