The Walter Thomas era is over in NO...

One of the most-hyped RFA of all time, Walter Thomas, was cut minutes into the Saints first minicamp. He couldnt' make it through conditioning drills.

Walter was the much-hyped 375 lb. DT who was featured in the New York Times for his ability to do a backflip. After flunking out of Oklahoma State, Thomas played some games at a JUCO school before being kicked off the team due to a legal entanglement. Despite all that, he was still on the radar due to being a freakishly athletic big man.

However, in the end, it takes more than that. You have to have some maturity, work ethic and professionalism to make it in the NFL. Guys like Thomas and Manuel Wright never seem to understand that.

I thought that was LeRon Harris who did the backflip, the guy the Bills cut a few days ago.

No, NE39 is talking about Walter Thomas. He was supposed to be another agile lineman and was labeled a huge sleeper in the draft.

Yeah, there's generally a reason why "phenoms" like Harris and Thomas go undrafted. Oftimes, it's that dreaded glandular condition, The Overactive Fork.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Or god forbid scouts actually know what they are doing.

There was a writeup about that today here, how after like 30 minutes his locker was clear and he was gone.

Oh well, talk about a blown chance.

I think its kindof funny to see all these enormous men simply just not cut it, and then GET cut. I wonder how many teams sign these fat***es then cut them a week later.

And just out of curiosity, as far as the guys we had and then cut go, did they get paid for the short time they were here?

Maybe just some meal money, but in their case, that could add up.

Well in Harris' case, he must have had an injury or something. Thomas and Wright were simply overweight. It's possible Harris could get healthy and become something (either in Buffalo or elsewhere), whereas the other guys are probably doomed to just being slobs.

I can't believe we got this far into this thread and no one has clamored for the Bills to "rush out" and claim the guy off waivers! How does it go... Get'R done Marv?
