Donovan McNabb wasn't the only Eagles quarterback who needed smelling salts last month after the team spent its top draft pick on Kevin Kolb. Kelly Holcomb, come on down.

"I don't know about the effect on Donovan, but I do know the effect on me," said Holcomb, who was acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Bills in late March. "I didn't expect it. But, hey, that's the business. That's the game of football. You've got to compete. I've had to compete for everything I've gotten in this league. It's just another day for me."

Holcomb, 33, has played 12 seasons. The Eagles are his fourth team. Unless he plays well enough this summer to convince coach Andy Reid to keep him and cut loose backup A.J. Feeley, there soon will be a fifth team on his resumé.

"I was happy to come in here [from Buffalo]," said Holcomb, who has 21 career starts. "I like this offense. I think it fits me very well. But all I can do is do my job and try to impress and hope things work out."

The Eagles signed Feeley to a 3-year contract extension in February. But with McNabb coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Reid and general manager Tom Heckert figured the more veteran backup insurance they had the better.

But with the addition of Kolb, somebody has to go, and that somebody is expected to be Holcomb........

Did you read the article?

At worse - Andy Reid plans on keeping 4 QB's deep into training camp. And if for some reason The Holcomb doesn't make it he would be signed within hours by another superbowl contender looking for a wily veteran.

It's this simple - AJ Feeley is going to have to be spectacular at minimum to keep his spot on the roster in Philly because he's nowhere near the QB that The Holcomb is.

those who think Edwards was a mistake , they must think Reid doesn't know what he's doing.

Reid is a great coach, but he made a bad move with drafting Kolb - especially early in the 2nd - The Answer had Kolb rated as a 5th round prospect.

The move has already lefted McNabb mystified as well, and The Holcomb isn't too happy about it but knows he's still the better QB than Feeley or a rookie.

Some of these particular posts are idiots.

McNabb said in plain english on ESPN before the draft that they should draft a QB. Then he acts all surprised about it when they do. Holcomb is not the answer. He never has been and he never will. I'm sick of having this discussion every other day. Get the **** over it.

Nobody ever said that Holcomb is the long term answer - but given McNabb's recent injury string he simply isn't dependable anymore, nor will he ever be the same player again.

Holcomb is a west coast QB and when Andy Reid sees him in action this preseason than it's bye bye AJ Feeley.
