"This is what concerns me: Losing Adalius Thomas (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187661), who signed with the New England Patriots, has to take something away from the Ravens defense. Granted, the team still has plenty of talented defensive players and there still is reason to consider the linebacking corps that Thomas vacated as one of the strongest in the NFL. But he is such a rare talent, making so many more plays and covering so much more ground than the vast majority of outside linebackers in the league, it's hard to imagine his absence not being felt.

For a team that drafts well, giving up three picks (a third- and seventh-rounder in 2007 and a third-rounder in '08) for Willis McGahee (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396170) was a steep price for a running back who has yet to consistently perform at the elite level at which he sees himself. It's no slam dunk that the Ravens running game will be dramatically better than it was with Jamal Lewis (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/187391), who has signed with Cleveland, in the backfield."

Wow, Vic Carucci put out an opinion that has been expressed on this board a thousand times.

At long last, sweet blessed vindication in the form of a national sportswriter!

At long last, sweet blessed vindication in the form of a national sportswriter! The only reason why Vic gets it because unlike many other national media, Carucci used to cover this team exclusively.

Yeah... I'm not sure we can count him as a truly "national" writer since I grew up reading his articles. I do agree with what he said, though.
