    Patrick Kane dreamers-

    Guys-

It's not going to happen- unless Chicago has a severe brain fart.

The only way it will remotely happen is if the Sabres need a severe salary dump to retain Drury/Briere/Zubris/Vanek

Unfortunately- considering how much the Blackhawks stink- they are more up against the cap than we are. $6 million to Michael Handzus, $6.75 Million to Khabibulin, and $4 million to Adrian Aucoin in long term deals really screw them . They are only about $200K under the cap and have no huge dollar players leaving via UFA

So unloading Max, Kalinin, Kotalik and our 1st round pick to move up isn't a reality.

Fans always dream of getting the next superstar, it is in their nature. I am still mad about the post lockout draft lottery for Sidney Crosby when the Sabres were one of three teams with the best shot and Pittsburgh won it. FIX!!!!!

Maybe we can tank next year and draft John Tavares.

        Re: Patrick Kane dreamers-

The other thing to remember is that the next draft is supposed to be very weak. Kane is a very good player- but not a Crosby/ Kovalchuck/Malkin/Ovechkin calibre player. I hope he's not a Brian Lawton/Brian Carpenter - but he's not going to be all that and a bag of chips.

This draft is Top heavy maybe- but not very deep. That's why you saw a lot of teams trading late first round- second round picks to make a stab at the playoffs at the trade deadline.

Just the opposite for the 2008 draft. That is supposed to be well stocked.

So with that in mind, teams are unlikely to deal out of the top 10 picks unless they get a king's randsome
