    Could the Eagles trade McNabb to the Bears??

    Looks like The Holcomb's strong performance at the recent Eagle minicamp has stirred the proverbial pot in Philly. The Answer heard this rumor from one of his inside sources too recently but didn't want to post it without a link. Stay tuned........

    Eagles to trade McNabb to Bears?

    The recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb could mean that Donovan McNabb will be traded before the 2007 season. A few observers have opined that McNabb will be moved after the coming season. But here's a scenario that has him moving before September. The Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. This scenario obviously depends on two things. One, that McNabb is physically ready to play on Week 1 of the 2007 season. Two, that Chicago is convinced McNabb is their best available QB option.

      McNabb has not stayed healthy for an entire season since 2004 and he's not getting any younger. The Bears are a team built to win now and Rex Grossman is not THE ANSWER.

      On the Philly front - Andy Reid and the rest of the Eagles front office have been enamored with the wily veteran Holcomb ever since they pulled the trigger and traded for him. He's a perfect fit for the west coast offense and would be a good starter for a few years until Kolb is ready with Feely as the middle man.

            The only thing is, I don't get McNabb being traded within the conference.... to an AFC team, maybe, just maybe, but never to an NFC.

                  Can you say Drew Bledsoe? Washed up probowler traded to a rival team in the same conference or division.

                  Briggs for McNabb straight up would make a lot of sense - stay tuned.

                    No, this will not happen. Come on guys...how can you buy this?

                    Philly's offensive system needs an scrambling quaterback ala McNabb/Garcia and Holcomb is totally the opposite of what Philadelphia needs as a staring QB.

                    McNabb is injury prone so if he gets injured then Holcomb could be the answer. If Holcomb has been able to impress Andy Reid in the mini-camp then Andy Reid knows he has a good backup but that's it. What is the point of starting Holcomb since the beginning when you can start a better guy and if that better guy gets injured then you have Holcomb.

                    Now, what is the point in letting Jeff Garcia go if Philly knew they were going to trade McNabb? If Philly was actually going to trade McNabb they would have kept Garcia.

                    I don't buy this rummor.

                      The Answer buys it for a number of reasons.

                      The Holcomb is the quintessential west coast offense QB - he can make all the throws, lightening quick release and has pocket savvy. Sure he's not the most mobile QB, but he is a seasoned veteran that would thrive in Andy Reid's offense.

                      With Feeley you hopefully have a reliable back up, and Kolb would benefit watching The Holcomb do his thing for a year or two just like Losman did in Buffalo.

                      Bye Bye McNabb - let The Era of The Holcombator begin.

                        You need to stop these posts about how great you think Holcomb is...'

                        He's never played in a west coast offense.

                        He's never helped any QBs development.

                        He's never been good enough to be a starter in this league.

                        And if you can remember back to his time in Cleveland he had plenty of injury problems himself.

                            No way this happens. If it does, however, Feeley would the starting QB for a bit, like half the season, then Kolb would step in for the 1-7 Eagles. Kelly Holcomb...MIA. Possibly pouring Kolb gatorade.
