I think we should take a look into the cost of this guy. He was a good college OG and he hasnt bad in the pro's. He could be an improvement over Preston/Merz/Whittle imo.

Don't see us in there being interested but you never know. He was pretty well thought of while he was coming ut of the draft.

Why would the 49'ers be getting rid of him?

I agree. Thought they were trying to build there o-line to protect Smith.

He's played ok for the 49ers, but he's a road grater, but has been awful in pass protection. I think it took him a while to break into the line up for the niners, but can be considered a disapointment for were he was drafted. IMO from the few niner games i watched, fox had a segment about him i want to say during a seahawks game.

Smiley + Walker on the right side = Wide open holes for Marshawn to scamper through Divided by the Beating JP will take in pass protection makes results inconclusive at this point.

The 49ers have a host of talnted young linemen, and David Baas looks to be taking over at OG.

Plus I believe I read with the OG paydays going round Smileys demands for next year got to high.

                      I actually think we have a very good, emerging RG in. . . . . . . Brad Butler.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I agree, although I have a feeling Whittle starts there this season, at least early on.

How do you know? Has he ever seen the field? He is an o.k. prospect, but he is a complete unknown at the professional level.

I DON'T know. I don't profess to be Pat, or Op, or Wys. But he was highly thought of coming out of Virginia, and is smart, motivated and plays with a nasty streak. He also has recovered from a shoulder (I think) injury suffered in college which hampered him last year.

I just have a feeling he'll be good. Just my opinion, which is the case with all my posts.
