Eric Brewer $3m
Re-up Vanek,Paille,Mair,Roy,Conklin,Paetsch,Peters $6.5m

Total Cap $49.1

Pretty good team, I would say, and the minimum they say the cap will be is $49m

Couple things, Brewer signed a new deal with st louis before last years trading deadline. Mckee is a great guy and when healthy a good player, but he was on the mend for most of last year with a hip, and various other injuries. Even that being said im not sure spacek even has that much trade value. If your trading for draft picks Max better be in a deal to get the number one pick.

Yeah - you're right about Brewer - I meant Brad Stuart - we could use his toughness. The fact McKee was hurt might make him available??

Overall i like it, especially the forwards. A sick number one line with more grit and expierence.

My complaint about the defense is that it is really hard to know what the new cap is going to be raised by. 3 mil might not be enought for Stuart, keeping in mind that McKee who is not as well rounded of a player recieved 4 mil. Also keep in mind that Vanek could blow your whole idea up. He alone might get 4 mil this offseason. In the end i love keeping Briere, Drury, then grabing smyth i just don't think we have the room. Love the line up though. One might need to sacrifised. Myself i hope its Briere, i'd love smyth on this team.

Vanek is in line for somewhere between 3-4 milion a year. He is in a similar position to Afinigenov was at his last contract. I would add a pick just to get someone to take Spaceks contract, we might be stuck with him.

If you trade Afinigenov for a pick you will regret it later. The kid is a player whether or not we like him. You have to get a quality player in return or a cant miss prospect for him.

yeah - Vanek is the wildcard - I have no idea what he'll end up getting. I read somwhere that he'll likely double his 2006 salary (which was slightly less than $1m). If Stuart is too expensive, simply keep Kalinin at $2m. I think Stuart only had 18 poitns last year, though.

Vanek will likely triple his salary, or maybe even quadruple it! :nervous:
