Looks like T.O. is going to be staying in Big D........

May 31, 2007) -- June 1 typically has been one of the key dates on the NFL calendar. But this year, June 3 is a key date -- specifically to the Dallas Cowboys and wide receiver Terrell Owens.
Perhaps Terrell Owens' encouraging workouts in mid-May convinced Dallas not to make a change.
If T.O. is on the Cowboys roster June 3 -- meaning the team does not release him June 1 or 2 -- then the mercurial wide receiver will earn a $3 million roster bonus, officially assuring his presence in Dallas for the coming season.
But barring any unforeseen events, the bonus is expected to be paid.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones already has stated he expects T.O. to return to Dallas for 2007, one year after the wide receiver caught 85 passes for 1,180 yards and 13 touchdowns for Dallas.
Owens even participated in the Cowboys' mandatory mid-May minicamp, despite undergoing two operations this offseason to repair a torn tendon in his right ring finger.
Now, his real D-day has arrived, though Jones has removed some of the suspense. It now looks like a slam-shut deal in which Owens will reel in his bonus as if it were just another pass. If so, it will be the latest big payment to T.O.
Last year, in a season in which T.O. caught 85 passes for 1,180 yards and 13 touchdowns, Dallas paid the veteran wide receiver $10 million. This year, assuming the Cowboys let the weekend come and go without making any moves, T.O. will earn $3 million in bonus money and another $5 million in base salary.
Thus in two years in Dallas, for the immense talents and headaches he has brought the Cowboys, T.O. will have been paid $18 million -- not bad for a wide receiver who did not have any other viable offers from any other teams when he was a free agent a little over one year ago.
Since participating in the Cowboys' last minicamp, in which T.O. said he got "nothing, really" out of his one season with head coach Bill Parcells, the wide receiver has generated no attention. That is about to change.
By June 3, T.O. will have made some news, and very likely some money.
