    Watched The 2006 Games

    There are things you notice

    - Jp showed great poise and accuracy as the year went on.
    - Royal really stepped up in the passing game late in the year.
    - Our D sucked then, it will be worse this year.
    - O-line was ******ed.
    - Fairchild opened the playbook up late with more screens reverses.
    and finnaly
    - We all must have been blinded by the fact that Mcgahee was our starting RB because he SUCKED this guy played with no power, speed, burst, nothing at ALL! We will not be missing this bum what so ever GUARENTEED!

I agree with most but how can you tell the D will be worse this year by watching the games last year?

My educated guess would be that what precious few big plays we had defensively last year, we're made by Fletcher and Clements... and Spikes' hit on Brady led to the other defensive touchdown last year.

with out a doubt new players are going to have to step up on D. Watching games last year when some 2007 starters were either on the bench, injured, or still developing doesn't tell us much about what the D will be in 2007. All it shows is that they need to improve.

                  !
you mean the better the OL played the better our QB,wr's and TEplayed? But some people here are so sure they suck though.

As for the D, why is it surprising that new players some of whom were rookies (some of whom missed some camp)struggled ?

Hopefully some of them will play better with better understanding of the system. It's no guarantee but I won't instantly say , we will be worse this year. You would think that having rookie starters and the vets learning a new system that we would be wrose than the D from 2005. That wasn't the case. Other than the run D everything else was better.

JP played better and better down the field but he best start showing the same skills in the short game because he didn't last year.

                      Re: Watched The 2006 Games

I'm amazed that those bashing our D can't seem to recognize that we played 4 rookies extensively last year, and that rookies generally improve in their second year. In addition, two highly regarded rookies who didn't play much last year - McCargo and Youboty - at least have a year in the system and will play more this season.

We also drafted the two time Bednarik Trophy winning linebacker and - if we can get him signed - picked up a decent DT in Walker.

All this means is that it's WAY premature to throw our D under the bus before we even go to training camp.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
