I grabbed this from HFboards:

On Primetime Sports today, Bob McCown said there is a story that the NHL is about to announce two new *Western* expansion cities and that the meetings have already taken place. They speculated that the cities are Las Vegas and Kansas City. Also of note was that Winnipeg was rejected.

Fast forward to the 16:45 mark.

 If this is true, then the NHL will NEVER learn! :shakeno:

If anything, they should be shrinking a bit...not getting bigger. Hell, get rid of some of the southern markets that don't come close to selling out tickets....

Bob McCown said there is a story

Seriously... what is with all the unsubstantiated crap you are posting lately. You've made the Sabres section worse than the damn BZ at this point. Someone saying they heard something is not news, so quit posting it like it is.

Links to what?

Somebody posts junk on a message board.

Someone else reads it and posts it again on a message board. 2 Links? Hahahahah, Maybe I'll post on two boards that the NHL will start building robots to replace more expensive players. Then it will be true!

Got anything from a MEDIA or LEAGUE source?

That was the biggest waste of my time in my life.

LW- please try to figure out how to discern what is an actual news item fact (Who, what, where, when, how) and attributed to a source and what is speculation by a bunch of talking heads like Zig Fercosi or these dopes.

Funny- even this "Story" they brought up names zero sources, zero names, and they don't even prove Las Vegas or KC are the cities .."The most likely cities..."

I can't wait for tomorrow when a caller from Cheecktowaga on WGR-550 announces Patrick Kane will hold out unless he's drafted by the Sabres.... it will be a headline on the forum

The talent in the NHL is already watered down enough without this crap.

...and besides...Las Vegas has a difficult time 'wooing' any of the major league sports because of the sports betting.....causes too many issues of 'what ifs' if there's too close a game or a loss that shouldn't have been....is why the NFL and MLB will never touch it....and I seriously doubt the NHL would either

I'm not buying the gambling aspect keeping the NHL out. You can legally bet on any sport in Canada through the lottery- so why not in vegas?

i don't think Vegas will get a team.you have people working ALL hours of the day which prevents people from attending.it would be nice to have here but i don't think it would work.

I disagree the best thing the NHL could do is expand into new markets if they can afford it.

Since the owners can't get any money from TV, it's not beyond the realm of possiblility that some old time guys like Dollar Bill Wurtz figure they can get some quick cash through expansion.

then they should add a couple more Canadian teams or maybe some more northern teams. Adding more teams where it is warm doesn't make sense. :shakeno:

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly confirmed that the league has been in discussions with powerful film and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer about owning a franchise in Las Vegas, amid growing speculation that the NHL is on the verge of proposing expansion to Las Vegas and K.C.

From your link.

"Bruckheimer is one of many people we have spoken to about their desire to own a team in Vegas." Daly added that "no decisions have been made" by the NHL BOG about expanding the league from 30 to 32 teams and that "there's no 'agreement' with anyone" to own an expansion team.

If that wasn't enough here is an excerpt from their editorial mission.

"Each day, in an effort to cut through the clutter and save our clients precious time, SportsBusiness Daily monitors hundreds of respected media sources – daily metropolitan newspapers; weekly business journals; the top sports, business and news periodicals; sports, news and business television and radio shows; and some of the industry's leading Internet publications."

Do you know what this means? It means they report things they read in other papers.
