Sabres sign 2005 2nd round draft pick Phillip Gogulla

Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have agreed to terms with forward Phillip Gogulla on a three-year entry level contract.

Gogulla, (6-1, 190 lbs.) was Buffalo’s second-round selection (48th overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft. The 19-year-old from Dusseldorf, Germany, spent the last three seasons with the Cologne Sharks of the German Elite League. He finished the 2006-07 season with 21 points (8+13) in 44 games. Gogulla was a member of Team Germany at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Sweden, and was second on the team in scoring with six points (0+6) in five games.

“Phillip Gogulla is a strong skater with extensive elite league and international experience for someone who is just 19 years old,” Regier said. “We believe that he has tremendous potential, and look forward to watching his development in the years to come.”
