    DT rayburn talks to bills

    Rayburn making the rounds
Rayburn, recently released by the Eagles, is finding a pretty solid market as a free agent, writes Len Pasquarelli. Rayburn met this week with Buffalo officials and has other visits arranged. Rayburn, 26, will meet with the Giants the middle of next week, and could then go to San Francisco, where the 49ers are intrigued by his potential as a 3-4 end.

Rayburn had five seasons left on his contract in Philadelphia, but he and agent Jason Brown are probably leaning toward a one-year deal wherever he signs next. The key is to find the spot where Rayburn can get the most playing time, put up some healthy numbers, and then make some real money as an unrestricted free agent next spring. For that reason, Rayburn will be a little selective about where he signs next, and might take a week or two to narrow his best options.

That's it. He has to be better than Anderson.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I was gonna say, lets see how many former Eagles DTs we can get.

That being said, I cant imagine he would hurt our team, depending on how much he costs. I personally like Williams, McCargo and Triplett, but I suppose if we get this guy Tim Anderson could be cut! SIgn him up!

According to the SF Chronicle, there are 4 teams interested in Rayburn, including the 49ers. I'd assume the Bills were another, considering they had him in for a visit.

Here is a notebook report on his visit with SF:

                LINK

Rayburn visit: The 49ers had former Eagles defensive tackle Sam Rayburn visit recently. He was released by Philadelphia on May 11. The 49ers and three other teams are interested in signing him.

"Hopefully, their (the Eagles') loss is our gain," coach Mike Nolan said. Rayburn would fit in the rotation as a nose tackle and defensive end. Rayburn fell out of favor in Philadelphia after players such as Mike Peterson began developing.

guess it's Darwin Walker or bust- there are no options left for fixing the DL at this point.

I'm just shocked that nothing was done to fix the DL this off-season. I know they did a lot last season, but clearly it didn't produce results on the field.
