All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

NHL Salary Cap going up to $52M not 48M? like everyone is saying
NHL Salary Cap going up to $52M not 48M? like everyone is saying
Slap Shots has been told that the NHLPA is planning to exercise its right under the CBA to request that a full five-percent bump be built into next season's cap. If 2006-07 league revenues come it at $2.36B - Gary Bettman on Monday said he thought the number would be close to $2.4B - a five-percent bump would bring next season's upper limit to approximately $52M.
Re: NHL Salary Cap going up to $52M not 48M? like everyone is saying
I though it's been reported all along that the cap would be between 48 and 52?
Regardless, it doesn't guarantee one or both definitely coming back. Every other club that may be looking to sign one of them got the increae, also, and can use it to lure them away.

if it goes up to $52 mil then each team has $4mil more to spend...the maximum contract will also go up to almost $9mil...you might not get Drury for under $8 mil.

the money is there and the NHL is being open...why would they lie and say revenues were higher? by contract they must set a salary cap at some percentage of revenues.

doesn't anybody read?? the salary cap was negotiated into the CBA...the owners don't arbitrarily set the cap - it is a certain percentage of the revenues (like football) there is nothing the owners can do. If the cap is going up it is because 1) that was the way it was negotiated and 2) then revenues are going up...us *****ing about it won't do a thing...
...and if we lived in a major market where they won't worry about the cap no fan here would be *****ing anyway.
