What is an acceptable contract in your eyes for Drury..and at what price would you let him walk??

Note: Maximum contracts may be as much as $9mil next season.

This is the one time, ever, that I would consider breaking the bank for one player. Match any offer he gets, or sign him to a big deal right up front and take the bidding war completely out of the process.

Oh, I just read the beginning of what I wanted to pay Drury. I might go higher if what I am willing to pay.

How bout whatever it takes I would be fine with.

I would go up to right around 7 per, maybe a little higher. The guy knows how to win and provides invaluable leadership. With him, it is abotu more than the numbers and stats.

That is what I was about to type as well... I'd love to get him at 7.

That's exactly was I was thinking as well.

I would think it is not about the money for Drury and that he logically will know that the more money he makes, the less there is for a difference maker.

Man do I hope they resign him.

6.0-6.5. If I'm running a team, I want 3-4 solid proven vets but I will not sacrifice all the other components needed to make a run for the cup. You need role players, you need depth and a great goaltender, all of which are not cheap. If 1 or 2 players are going to cost me (as a GM) losing the other vital parts, its not worth it to me. If all I wanted was a team that could sell out most games and be "competitive" then I would give them more.

Simple ones are more likely to find common ground. It's a scientific fact.

so, is it safe to assume that nobody (except for maybe Devin) will ***** if the Sabres lose him because some other team offers him more than $7.5 mil?? Am I reading that correctly??

As far as I am concerned, I won't complain. I will complain if the Sabres don't replace him with a player that can help in areas that the team lacks. They have the goal scorers, they have the goaltending, WHERE'S THE BEEF?
