    Murphy's Law two-steps Royal Law + Day 12 OTA

    Murphy flashed Friday

    Today

Posted By: Chris Brown | Time: 1:49 PM ET | Link

MURPHY FLASHED FRIDAY: One guy that showed well Friday in practice was tight end Matt Murphy. Built like a blocking tight end, Murphy showed some agility making three touchdown catches in Friday's workout, including a difficult over the shoulder catch in the back corner of the end zone where he was able to get his feet down before his momentum took him out of bounds. ---

Nice to see guys stepping up while Royal is on the sidelines. Bills Focus also has a piece on Kevin Everett.

I was thinking the same thing. He seemed to have an excellent day though.

      From Day 12 notes...

Edwards had a pretty good day passing in the extra work he received especially during the 7-on-7 red zone period. The rookie signal caller had back-to-back touchdown tosses to Jemalle Cornelius and tight end Matt Murphy. Both passes had good touch as they were dropped in behind defensive backs with a respectable breeze blowing into his face. Murphy made a nice play with his over the shoulder catch while getting both feet down.

Craig Nall began his red zone series with a touchdown pass to Murphy who made a difficult over the shoulder catch in the back corner of the end zone.

I hope Royal was taking notes on Murphy's TD catches!

It seems Poz is starting to progress pretty quickly now. I'm glad we keep on hearing him being in the backfield on running plays. He's always had an excellent nose for the ball and it looks like it is carrying over to this level.

It seems like it's only a matter of time now. Instead of pushing Nall, this kid might end up pushing JP by end of camp.

I have not heard one word about that Boise State kid TE.

They have him at the H-back position behind Neufeld and Cieslak. They may have been practicing more blocking then running routes as of late.

let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. Edwards only seems to be a younger Holcomb completing short passes. I haven't heard him consistently throw bombs to Evans or anyone yet.

Maybe in time but right now, he has to beat Nall Ball first.

Matt Murphy was a TE out of Maryland back in 2002. He was a 7th round pick of the Lions that year, and has kicked around the edge of the roster for Detriot, Houston and (most recently) Buffalo.

But, hey, it is OTA time so he might be the next Antonio Gates.
