Question for long time Hockey fans

I was wondering, were the Anaheim Ducks the 'Mighty Ducks' before that barrage of cheesy movies with Emelio Estevez as head coach of a kids team came out? Just curious.

The franchise was owned by Disney when the joined the league, so naturally they took the name of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. They were sold 2 or 3 years ago, and got new jerseys this year, the new owner chose to drop the mighty and change the logo.

To be completely right, the name of the team was The Mighty Ducks Of Anaheim.
