    Your Top 5

I was listening to the radio the other day and they had a discussion topic that asked the question "If you were starting a team, who would be your first 5 picks." They did it for every sport but we can do only football or you can give me your top 5 for the 4 major sports. Here are mine

    Re: Your Top 5

Doesnt make sense to take 2 QB's IMO, I would take

1-Brady-Most important position in football and dude is just a winner, no matter how much you hate him
2-LT-Unbelievable talent and along with Brady gives defenses fits
3-Walter Jones-forget about whoever the rush end is for that opposing D
4-(warning may contain homerism) Jason Taylor-Every D needs a dominant pass rusher and JT is it.
5-Champ Baily-Shutdown corners are hard to find and he is one, also has great hands and is a ballhawk.

Of course this gets complicated if you start thinking about age of players and are trying to build a young team that will be competitive for a long period of time in which case Jt misses the cut, probably Jones too.

Your baseball one is whacked....Dan Haren #4, and David Ortiz is DH..

What about a player like Grady Sizemore or a pitcher like Jake Peavy or Josh Beckett?

                          Re: Your Top 5

Good thread. I'm assuming by the Top 5 you mean if you could have ALL five of the players on your team?

                          NFL
1- LT- complete back can make any QB look better.
2- Tom Brady- Despite last year, better proven big-game performer.
3- Brian Urlacher- Would quarterback any defense and any scheme.
4- Tommie Harris- Once healthy, most dominating DL in the NFL.
5- STeve Smith- Though Im very tempted to say Calvin Johnson, who's going to be Moss and Owens wrapped into one minus the attitutude.

                          MLB
1- ARod- If he was anywhere else he'd be a hero. He can do everything.
2- Jose Reyes- Baseball's newest and best table setter.
                          3- Johan Santana- Absolute freak.
4- Vlad Guerrero- Can do it all at plate and a sick arm in the OF.
5- Mariano Rivera- Yes he's old, but if I need 3 outs in the clutch, its still him

                          NHL
1- Sidney Crosby- Not only is he great and a big name, this guy is tough as nails and not scared of corners and in front of the net. Love this dude.
2- Robert Luongo- best goalie in the NHL, period.
                          3- JOhn LeCavalier- Sniper
4- Chris Pronger- Suspensions in playoffs aside, the best and most intimidating defensemen in NHL.
5- Chris Drury- Totally clutch and will also go against your top center.

                          NBA
1- Lebron James- Absolutely has to be.
2- Steve Nash- makes the ENTIRE team better.
3- Tim Duncan- money when it matters
                          4- Dwight Howard- Rebounding machine.
5- Dwayne Wade- Versatile and fearless. Can be as effective scoring 12 points or 40.
Narrow miss: Deron Williams is going to be the next Jason Kidd.

He fits my team...this is picking a team. I would also like you to tell me what's wrong with a player that shoots 50% from the field, 90% at the line and 41% from 3, scores about 25 PPG, and gets 9 RPG playing above the foul line.
Maybe i should pick Garnett, but Nowitzki fits better. Thank you.

                            Shaq looks arthritic.

                              Football:
                              1. LT
                              2. Peyton

                              5. Larry Johnson

I wish he was on the Bills right now category: Tommie Harris

                              Hockey
                              1. Robert Luongo
                              2. Sydney Crosby
                              3. Mikka Kiprusoff
                              4. Dion Phaneuf
                              5. Henrik Lundqvuist (this playoff season showed me he is a great one)

I wish he was on the Sabres right now: Mike Fisher (hell yeah I so wanted him on that list.

I won't pretend that I know a lot about baseball players today because I don't, so this might be a popularity contest with me:

                              Baseball
                              1. Jorge Posada
                              2. Jason Varitek
                              3. Vladimer Guerrero
                              4. Johan Santana
                              5. CC Sabathia

NBA - I have only seen the Cavs play so Lebron.
