Jets LB explains his dogfighting comments

Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma said Thursday his recent comments comparing dogfighting to horse racing were misunderstood.

Asked on a local radio show his thoughts on the investigation of Falcons quarterback Michael Vick's possible involvement in dogfighting, Vilma said: "Dogfighting is much more extreme, but you can equate it to horse racing. ... Everyone has heard about dogfighting. Whether you choose to participate or not, that's your decision. I'm not here to condone or accept it. It's been there for a while..."

I will give Vilma the benefit of the doubt. I can see where a player from The "U" is misunderstood. Who graduated from there in the University of Miami in the last 20 years that impressed you with their intelligence and spoke eloquuently?

Kelly and Kosar graduated over 20 years ago. Of the ones not crossed off some I have not heard speak and others I would say have not impressed me...even though Jon Beason does impress me with his attitude however he is far from an eloquent speaker.

Perhaps one should replace "graduated" with "attended", or more precisely, "played for". Like a lot of "football factories", I suspect the U doesn't graduate a lot of its players ... when they use up their eligibility, they're on their own.
