Daniel Briere and Chris Drury, Buffalo Sabres: GM Darcy Regier would love to retain them but could face losing one or both. It's believed Regier recently made offers to both players and is awaiting word back from their agents. The Flyers and Canadiens are believed most interested in Briere, while San Jose and New York (Rangers) are rumored as potential destinations for Drury. The Sabres recently announced they'll spend more next season on payroll, but will it be enough to keep Drury and Briere in the fold?

Granted its from spector, but i actually find him some what creditable. Better then Eklund. For as much as i rip on your for your crap, you might have found something worth getting my hopes up.

roughly two weeks or so before the deadline. Im hoping something goes down this week. To be frank, i see the odds of them signing both slim to none. Even with 18 mil free this team would be wise to sign one or the other, and focus on adding some grit on defence.Originally posted by Ebenezer

Bingo. The starting offers are merely the opening salvo, given to both in the same time frame so as not to give the impression that the FO favors one over the other, IMO. Once they hear back from the agents the strategy for the next couple of weeks will be defined.Originally posted by Ebenezer

With reality being that only one can be signed, Drury should be the first choice.

Briere is plan be, drury wants to leave then retain danny. option 1 keep Drury, plan be sign danny if Drury walks.
