I think the top 5 are spot on and then y ou can easily start debating after that.

Vince Young at 7!! What a friggen idiot. I think teams were caught off guard by Young's mobility last season, but it won't happen as much this year. Just play him like teams do Vick: let his arm beat you (which it won't). That's just rediculous.

And as much as I don't want to say it, Noodlearm Pennington is way better than Cutler, Young and Romo. I don't mind them having JP low, it'll just make it much sweeter when he proves them wrong.

why is everyone so high on vince young? he's the next michael vick. he will do nothing with his career except run around like a chicken with his head cut off. good luck when your knees are mush in your late 20's and your forced to rely on your sub-par arm... until he starts putting up numbers and playing like guys such as Manning or Brady then he is nothing but a glorified highlight reel IMO.

cutler, romo... please... what have these guys done to merit such high rankings?

intangibles? come on? that is some guy's opinion put into numerical form and we are supossed to take it as fact?

I agree, Cutler has done squat, Im not saying JP is better than him or anything but he is....WOOPS! i meant to say that Cutler does not deserve to be so high, especially not higher than McNabb.

yeah, the top 6 are probably just how I'd rank them, but Young at 7 is a freakin joke. He needs to be phenomenal this year to live up to the hype he's getting right now.

matt schaub hasn't even started a game and he's better than almost a 1/3 of the league apparently.

Ummmm. Jon Kitna? At 9? I don't think so

I guess this takes into account that Detroit is going to field 22 wideouts this year. He'll always have someone to throw to.

I think everyone will see that more clearly this season too...

king is a follower. he rarely gives insight into anyone's game. he follows who was the 2006 leader, mixes in with his NEw England bais and then back tracks the rest of the year as surprise teams pop up, old faithfuls fall apart, and rarely takes the knock on that.

losman at 20, shows you how he relies only on the people he interviews and the feelings he gets from them. Losman was a top 10 QB frmo the second half on. And with a better running game and better line (regardless of the acquisitions, you have to appreciate that there will be some improvement), losman should be top 15 base don last year's performance and this year's improvements.

Peter King is worthless as a football pundit. he gets the interviews and he gets some league news which is interesting. Outside that, his thoughts are no better crafted than any of us on this board.

gimme a break kitna played well last year

However, I can name about 6 QBs ranked below him that I would have put there instead:

McNabb
Cutler
Romo
Leinart
E. Manning
Losman

Give me any of these guys over Kitna.

Kitna did more with less than half those guys.

People forget that Kitna was pretty decent in Cinncy befor they handed the reigns to Palmer.

Kitna did more with less than half those guys.

I beg to differ.

McNabb was hurt
Leinart and Cutler didn't have a full seasons under their belts
Romo and Manning are just simply better players
Losman's second half and continued improvement vault him over Kitna any day.

Kitna put up some numbers, no doubt. But he is old and IMO, there is no way his overall performance over the past two years ranks him 9th overall among league QBs. His TD/int ratio bears out that he's inconsistent and at his age likely will not get better.

Please for the love of God somebody answer this... what the hell has Eli Manning done to deserve all the accolades he gets other than being born with that last name?!?!?!

I had to suffer through 16 Lions games last year. Kitna belongs at 9.

Kitna is a very capable QB especially with Mike Martz running the show and Roy Williams only makes him better.

V. Young needs to be in the top 10 because he's on the cover of Madden. :::

Please for the love of God somebody answer this... what the hell has Eli Manning done to deserve all the accolades he gets other than being born with that last name?!?!?!

I'll answer it myself, not much of anything:

Romo is "simply a better player", Kitna is "old"

Romo is 27 and until last year didn't take a snap in the league. Last time I heard a story like that, it involved a guy bagging groceries who faded from the league faster than he came into it. He was spoon fed into the lineup with a good running game, great o-line, and top 5 wr. Also - I hate Parcells, but the guy is a hall-of-fame coach. He played merely average in the majority of his starts last year, and couldn't even handle a FG snap in a playoff game. If JP had a failure like that he would have been castrated league-wide, but instead Romo is "maturing".

McNabb was "hurt"

Story of his career. The only time he got to a super bowl was when he has Romo's teammate catching his passes. He puts up pretty numbers but chokes or gets hurt when it counts. Spare me.

Leinart and Cutler didn't have "full seasons" under their belts.

Ok, true. But, does that make them better? Leinart has arguably the best WR tandem in the league and won how many titles at USC? If he's so great he should have taken the league by storm (this coming from a USC fan). I don't get the hype on Cutler yet... the guy had 1 good game last year and took the reigns of a team already playoff-bound (remind me again why Jake the Snake was benched?). I could play QB in that offense ... snap>hand off to whoever's behind me>go downtown denver and eat an omlette with John Denver, all while wearing a goof looking orange uniform with raptor claws running up the side.

I'm not saying Kitna is the best, but people bag on him w/o even watching him play last year, and last year he played far better than those guys on a team with a bunch of nobody's and a first year coach. Saying he sucks reduces your rationale to the level of Peter King's.

I won't even go into Eli Manning. He's done nothing other than be born in the same family as his brother. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt having Gilbride as an OC.

Look, I'll give Kitna credit for playing for an awful team and playing alright in a rough situation, but the guy just makes too many mistakes. There issues with his came that could be corrected if he were 6 or 8 years younger, but he is what he is and that likely will not change.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the guy and it's not loke I don't think he deserves credit for how he's been playing, but I have a hard time ranking a guy that high given the team he plays for and the mistakes that always seem to follow his better plays.

Here's my prediction for a top 10, long shot QB: Alex Smith.

And again I'll say, Manning and Romo have been walking mistakes with a handful of bright spots thrown in on MUCH better teams than Kitna...

Nice, but I don't consider him too much of a long shot. Along with his supporting cast, he's been improving every year. With an improved defense to get him more chances with the ball, this could be his breakout year.

Just like I told my buddy today, from all the hype this guy gets you'd think he was gonna break all of Marino's records by seasons end.

I dont get it. I do, but i dont. Hes more exciting to watch (not in my mind, but many observers) than some bc he can move. Big freakin deal, doesnt make him the 7th best QB in the NFL.

Here's my prediction for a top 10, long shot QB: Alex Smith.
the vet Jackson and the rook Jason HIll give him two quality targets to throw too. THey have Lelie but I hate him.

Vernon Davis is sick and now that he's healthy look out.

They also got a strong RB in Gore.

I agree. ALex Smith is having himself a breakout year in 2007.
