The Bills will end up staying in Buffalo

NYS has professed it's support of the Bills and supported this team. Push come to shove based on RW passing on, the state will pass a tax referendum to build a new stadium in downtown Buffalo. It's the only professional football team that plays physically in NYS and it will be considered important to have it stay in state. The state has lost many businesses and New York money is pouring into downtown Buffalo:

The teams new owner will get to book all the venues there and keep a majority of the money from them. That will be a huge financial incentive to stay around and collect checks to offset expenses. Parking, food, concessions, major corporate naming rights (plan on Toyota paying all the money for that) and a increase in the land surrounding that area (which some major corporations will magically own) will give them the funds / incentives to stay there. Our team is coming home to downtown Buffalo, I think RW knows it as well and won't box him family in and give up his families money or position to early. In all honesty he doesn't need to and shouldn't have to just please us and the local folks.

I will not talk badly about RW ever again and think we need to respect his actions and determination to keep this team in Buffalo. God bless you and yours RW, long & well may you live.

Sorry, but that's chump change. You're talking about a few million dollars worth of real estate contrasted with many hundred millions for an NFL team. NYS via it's unfunded mandate for medicare (among other very onerous tax burdens) is way overburdening it's citizenry. Buffalo is a dying economic region, there are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Check the demographic and sensus data, males in the 18-35 age group are leaving Buffalo in droves.

If Wilson or the state wanted the Bills here then they should have planned/found a way to expand its marketing and television base. The only way I know of doing that, yet still not perhaps sufficiently, would have been to move the team eastward slightly.

When Wilson dies the team will be sold to the highest bidder. The owners would have to approve any sale. Since most of the owners want the team elsewhere, ... well you can match up the logic there in terms of outcome.

Sorry, but when Wilson passes the team is gone. The other owners driven by revenues are not going to create another problem for themselves for 10 or 20 more years. They're being somewhat respectful with Wilson, a long-time "original" owner. But they also know that he's not long for this world and that perhaps a few years of patience can accomplish their goals without making themselves look like complete greedy self-serving owners.

Also, let's see about attendance this year. Once again the hype seems promising, but if we have another two or three non-sellouts in a league where the rate was 1.2%, then I'd say that just adds more icing to the cake that's likely already iced up as is. Even two non-sellouts is a rate of 25% for the Bills.

All the factors that might lead to the Bills leaving are REAL issues- the next owner, the economy of WNY, Toronto wanting a team, the league wanting to make more money, the ineptitude of state and local politicians, etc. No one is predicting that those things will happen- they ARE happening.
