Fina tackling the talks
Interest in former Bills tackle John Fina is heating up, and he hopes to land with a team by the end of the week. Six teams checked in during the past few days, and most want to sign him as a tackle. But a couple of teams, such as the Redskins, are considering him for opportunities at guard. Fina is training in Tucson, Ariz.

If Fina is smart, he'll sign with a team that will switch him to guard. If he's real smart, he'll stay out of football.

if he is a true blue Buffalo Bill...he will stay a Bill for the rest of his life and stay retired!

I dunno about it being smart to stay out of football ... for $450 000, I'd embarras the hell out of myself for 4 months.

hey guys give the guy a break. He worked ahrd for this organization. And mike the Bills aren't known for treating their players very well so i don't blame him if he signs with another team!

Sometimes I wonder which team you are really for, bduff.

He didn't do a lot for the team. All he did was take a roster spot. He did however do a ton of stuff for Buffalo and the fans. I just hope he stays retired. I don't want to hear the BS about TD/GW screwing the players, thats not true! He was cut because he saved money and isnt worth a spot anymore. The guy said his heart isnt in it and that he was going to probably retire. Why change the tone, now?

Most teams have broke camp and two-a-days are over......hmmmm.....many vets wait because they don't want the 2-a-days

"Fina is not finished."

Well he looked pretty finished last year and the year before...

HR,

"...for $450 000, I'd embarras the hell out of myself for 4 months."

Amen to that! LOL

Due to the salary cap teams can not keep multimillion players that are either injury prone and/or over the hill and can't produce on there roster. What's more important rewarding a player for his years of service by having him sit on the bench and pay him millions or cut him and sign many players that can contribute and help the team win. Option one does not sit well with fans. Look at Troy Aikman. He led his team to 3 Super Bowls but due to his high salary and concussions Dallas released him.

I think he is smart enough to stay retired...and I'd embarrass myself for 4 months for even less....$250K

I always liked Fina and hope he gets what he wants. He did a very good job most of the time he was here, except he tailed off pretty badly the last couple years. I don't know how much he has left but if he wants to play I hope somebody gives him a shot.

I think he has enough money...at this point he would be coming back to a contender only.

You cite two examples. Thurman was treated poorly for that one thing...Ralph should have called him personally and he apologized for it. Steve was injured but was treated poorly when shown the door. As a whole though, the Bills organization is known as a high-class organization that treats its players well.

mike why do you fault him for trying to continue his career? if you were laid off from your job for not performing would you stop working all together and retire, especially if other companies were interested in hiring you? would you consider yourself a true blue [insert company name] and never work again? give me a break and quit the self righteous "be loyal forever" b.s.

Agreed BS, oops, I'll call you Billsouth from now on I guess. Anyway, I agree with you. The level of loyalty that is expected from sports teams/players is ridiculous. To please the fans, teams must keep players regardless of the cost, and players must stay with their teams regardless of how much they are being offered to go elsewhere. Where else in society do they work under such expectations?

Bduff's just being Canadian. He has to say something nasty about us once a week, or they kick him out of the country.
