Royal or Everett steps up this year?

Its pretty interesting that the depth chart has Cieslak, Nuefeld, and the FNG as FB's, with Royal and Everett as the TE's.

I just wonder if they are simply making the distinction between blockers and receiving type TE's

I think it's a possibility. I thought Royal looked like he could make some big catches for this team until the Titans game. With the new OL he will get more opportunities so it could happen.

Everett has done nothing for what- 2 or 3 years now?

Royal had one good game and sucked the rest of the year. There were games where he had more penalty yards than receiving yards. Everyone remembers his one big drop, but he had a LOT of bad plays outside of that one.

A legit receiving TE would help JP tremendously, but so far neither of these guys have been able to get it done.

I think Everett is getting cut before the season.

I think Royal is a backup TE but a starter here and after this year we'll finally realize that its nice to have a meaningful TE in the lineup and it will get addressed in some way before 2008.

Royal is better than everyone thinks around here. Even in Washington he was used to block. He'll be fine.

Talk to some Redskins fans about Royal. They'll pretty much confirm that what you see is what you get.

If they don't have to stay in and block, they should be able to get out in pass routes more often.

I'm expecting them (the TE's) to not have to block as much and thus to catch more footballs. Whether Everett sticks I don't know, though.

I think Royal will be fine, and Everett gets cut. Murphy will raise enough eyebrows to make the team.

I agree. The minute the Ol got revamped , he started catching more balls. Even Fairchild said he's better than what he showed except that they asked him to help out the team in other ares.

Who cares what redkins fans say.
