    The Bills today announced that the team has agreed to terms on a contract with wide receiver Bobby Shaw. In accordance with club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.A veteran of five NFL seasons, Shaw spent the 2002 season with Jacksonville and played in all 16 games, starting 10 at receiver for the Jaguars. He caught a career-high 44 passes for 525 yards and one touchdown last season. Shaw also returned punts and averaged 12.4 yards per return on 25 attempts with a 69-yard TD.In 63 career games, Shaw has averaged 14.7 yards per reception and 12.1 yards per punt return.

    • Drafted in sixth round by Seattle Seahawks in the 1998, the 169th choice overall.
    • Signed by Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 20, 1998
    • Finished fourth on Steelers with 28 receptions for 387 yards (team-high 13.8 average) and three touchdowns in 1999
    • Produced his best season as a pro in 2000, catching a career-high 40 receptions for 672 yards, tying Hines Ward for team lead in receiving yards
    • Scored four touchdowns and averaged a team-high 16.8 yards a catch
    • Played in all 16 games in 2001, catching 24 passes for 409 yards (17.0-average, 90t long) and two touchdowns
    • 44 receptions, 525 yards, 11.9 avg, 1 TD for Jacksonville in 2002

    College Highlights

    Finished career as California's all-time leading receiver with 180 catches for 2,731 yards ... Scored 27 touchdowns, which ranked second in school history ... Started in his final two-and-a-half seasons, earning All-Pac 10 honors as a junior and senior ... Also served as team's holder for placekicks and returned eight punts for 66 yards ... Graduated in 1998 with a degree in American studies.

              This comes under the category of "a value signing of role player." While everyone drools of the blockbuster signing like Spikes, it's this kind of signing that sets TD apart from a lot of GMs. Not every one of his signings works out. Look at Robinson last year. I think that was a case of TD listening to GW. I also think that TD was working with a lot tighter budget last year. The fact is he not only couldn't make the blockbuster FA signing (though he did make the Bledsoe trade), he couldn't really do much in the way of second tier signings. They were mostly third tier and therefore higher risk of failure. Shaw will not be a star, but he will play a role. He'll help the team.
              I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

              I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.
