Was tryign to re-sign both players. They should have focued on one and let the other go. By trying to get both, they had to make low offers and neither guy accepted.

Had they focused one of them, they might have gotten one to return.

If Buffalo on January 1st offered briere and drury what they did this week.

one if not both of them would be locked up right now.

Because his cap hit was 3 million and they had no room to take the 6 million it woudl have needed.

good point...but i would have traded Max or Kotalik or Kalinin to make it work.

Drury isn't gone, yet. I expected Briere to leave. If we lose Drury also, then I'll agree it was a mistake.

BY FAR the biggest mistake was the Sabres saying NO to Briere's offer of 5 years and 25 million last year. We're the IDIOTS who said no.

With the way contracts are going this year, that would be a STEAL.

And we'd only have to worry about Drury right now.

Drury would be gone then without a doubt.

With Vanek about to approach 5 million and Miller getting a bg raise next year, there would be no way to have all 4 on the team.

That is also assuming that either guy actually would have gone longterm and not hit UFA.
