Supposedly after Quinn's comments last night, we offered Drury essentially the same thing as the Rangers, but he seemed determined to be somewhere else next year...
Briere on the other hand, at least seemingly wanted to stay here but was insulted by our original offer... Plus the Sabres had Connolly pegged for his slot.
So, does it make sense for us to have gone this way, or should we have given up on Drury, knowing he wanted to leave even if we gave him the same money and gone after Briere, who we might have had to overpay slightly to keep?
Do we do that just to keep one of them to try and appease the fans or not?
And don't bother with the "we should have signed them months ago" crap, while it's true, we didn't and it's too late now, so please stick to the thread topic.
I don't know what I think of this. Most here were agreed that Drury was the one we needed to keep, but if he was so bound and determined to leave, I'm not sure we should have tried to throw all that money on him and lose out on others instead.
The one thing I do know is that it's turned into a mess all the way around and I don't think anybody's happy about that.
