give me one good reason why we as fans shouldn't be absolutely livid at the way this situation was handled by the FO.

Even if they wanted to go in a different direction, a) treating skilled veterans in this manner will do NOTHING to attract FA's to Buffalo and b) what exactly is that other direction? All the top tier guys have already been signed.

I think they screwed themselves by making a big pitch at Drury even though he didn't seem to be as interested in staying... by the time that fell through it was too late to do anything about Briere.
