    Press Conference

DR said Drury chose to go to NY over BUF and Briere's price was driven higher than BUF would pay.

Just said that they were speaking with Drury since 3-4 days after the season ended. Drury wanted to play in NYC.

Could explain why everything was so quiet from the Drury camp. If a guy does not want to be in Buffalo you can't fight it...Makes all those people with Drury jerseys feel good.
No one is doubting Briere wanted more money as of late last week. The thing is he could of been had for the 5 year 25 million extension 6 months ago.

I'm glad they keep saying Vanek will be back...it looks like they were willing to pony up for Drury and they are going to spend whatever they have to keep Vanek here.

          Re: Press Conference

What a joke...we've got good players blah blah blah...blame the players for not wanting to come back blah blah blah...

Key points: admitted they should have renegoiated last off season. Wanted Drury, clearly Briere was right in saying he wasn't wanted, but he wanted to go home. Will hopefully win a championship somwhere down the road.

          What a joke

Oh one last point, when asked if the sabres could become the pittsburgh pirates, they answered "possibly." I think that about says it all.

Regier said that, and Golisano should FIRE him for that comment alone.

Not sure if it was Reiger or Quinn, but one of them said it.

Drury didn't want to be here because he knows a dead-end organization when he sees one.

They can say that all they want. Lets make sure that happens if some crazy team (montreal maybe) throws the vault at him.

Then we'll see if we match.

would you work for somebody if they didn't show a committment??

If they try to make a commitment and you turn it down, how is the organization not showing commitment?

IF DR and LQ told the truth (And they might not be), they tried to get Drury.

Commitment isn't about getting just 1 player, had they kept Briere or McKee or Grier or Dumont. This organization has showed once you're over 30 your not wanted. They're always close but never commit to getting all the pieces in place.

this didn't just start with CD's contract...and they can say all they want about the difference in $$ not being huge or no counteroffer from CD's people....why would they counteroffer. If they wanted him back so badly and wanted him to know that there would have been a SIGNIFICANT deal on the table much sooner. The offers to DB and CD were no more than safe face offers...they had no intent on keeping them except at bargain basement prices.
