Then why didnt we out-bid Colorado's 5/$31.25 million and at least get Ryan Smyth.
Not only is Smyth a dynamite, rugged player that would've fit this team perfectly in this town-- he's a recognizable name that would've brought credibility towards the franchise and silenced a lot of fans and critics anger after losing our captains. Sign SMyth and you're also not having any "who's the new captain going to be" discussions.
If we were willing to do the deal for Drury, we should've outbid Colorado for Smyth.
