    Well...bring on the prospects

The relative inactivity in free-agency has me looking at the list of prospects. It's time to get Zagrapan and Funk to join Paille, Stafford and MacArthur on the big boy ice.

Darcy on Michael Ryan in an AP story today:

"Michael is a young player who is ready to play full-time at this level," Regier said. "He continues to develop and will be an important part of our club next season."

I think MacArthur, Stafford and Paille are virtually givens to make the team this year.

Kaleta probably could make it as a much needed fourth-liner, and I hope he does. I like the kid's heart and he's stepped up to do what he does on virtually every level-- deliver hard hits. I wouldn't be surprised if Michael Ryan makes it up into the starting lineup even. He's got some decent speed, although he has that Jiri Novotny Syndrome of not being able to play wing, which may indicate some softness. At center, he could be a third-line talent.

Funk, Zagrapan, possibly even Sekera... I think they need a little more time on the farm in Rochester.
