Hasek signs one-year deal to stay with Red Wings

How did they get him for only $2mil. Like him or not Hasek is worth more than that. Yes, he doesn't need the money - his low number is going to help the Wings stay competitive.

DETROIT (Reuters) - The Detroit Red Wings signed six times Vezina trophy-winning netminder Dominik Hasek to a one-year deal worth a reported $2 million on Friday.

"Re-signing Dom was one of our top priorities this off-season," general manager Ken Holland told the Red Wings's Web site. "Based on his performance this past season, we think Dom gives our team a great chance to be successful in 2007-08.

I figure they could sign Lunquist to a good offer sheet as their goaltender of the future.

He really isn't the Hasek of old. $2 mil is decent for a 42 year old goaltender with a groin that is known to act up once the going gets tough.

were his numbers better than Miller's...or say 20-25 other NHL goalies?

He also got about 10 less shots per game than any other goaltender.

actually that is not true...while he didn't face as many shots as other goalies it wasn't 10 fewer. He faced 23.4 shots per game. He had 8 shut outs; second in the league. Check this out. Of the top 30 Goalies in the game he faced no more than 5.5 shots per game fewer. And even if it were 10, with his save % that would be an extra 0.087 goals a game...a GAA of 2.14, still one of the best in the league... He's worth more than $2mil.

I don't know why some people hate ex-Bills or ex-Sabres.

I'd just like him to go away for a little while.
