Now that Drury and Briere are gone, let's revisit this. This time there is even a poll!!! (:lolpoint: Meathead)

I'd say Gaustad.

Teppo.

Teppo.
I agree. Give it to him for a year and when he retires you ease Vanek into it.

Drury. But Darcy and Quinn ****ed that up completely.

How is Gausted not on this list? I would say it is him or Campbell

Miller can't be captain. NHL rule.

Why bother with Teppo? He is 39.

Vanek isn't a rah rah locker room guy.

There is no doubt in my mind it will be a captain by committee.

how about Pommers

Ebenezer

most of the guys mentioned are too young.

Mair - doesn't play enough.
Gaustad - too young
Pomminville - too young
Vanek - too young

Campbell or Teppo.

So what if they're too young or too old it doesn't make a difference. Crosby 19 is going to be the youngest captain ever in the NHL next season. Mair in the Buffalo News a few weeks ago when the Sabres signed him he said that he's going to be moved around and put on different lines so he will get more ice time. He's also a veteran and he could be a leader also he's a fan favorite.

Sidney Crosby = Superstar

Paul Gaustad = 3rd year 4th liner

huge difference

That sucks. Stupid rule.

no it's not. Goalies don't play all 82 games...they don't go past center ice and they need to stay focused at the game at hand - you can't have them spending 5 minutes discussing on ice affairs with the refs.

Big deal they don't play all 82 games. Does a C/F/D play all 60 minutes of a game?

Only Captains are allowed to discuss things with the Ref?

Still imo, stupid rule.

It makes perfect sense Per EB. You can't have the goalie constantly skating to center ice.

They can't have co-captains like they did last year?

I suppose in a co Captain situation it is possibly doable.

C: Miller
A: Vanek
A: Gaustad

Or

Co-C: Miller
Co-C: Vanek
A: Gaustad
A: Campbell

I cannot believe Max has been on this team longer then anybody else... My vote would be for any of the top 4 D-Men... Lydman, Campbell, Tallinder, Teppo...

However, I'd be willing to bet they go back to a rotating system.

Yes it is.

So the captain is the only one who's allowed to talk to the Ref? The Co-Captain couldn't do it? The Ass. couldn't do it? Who talks to the ref when the Captain is on the bench?

Stupid rule, saying "you can't have them spending 5 minutes discussing on ice affairs with the refs." doesn't justify why Goalies can't be captains. Because there is 5 other guys on the ice that also know how to talk.

Even with Danny and Chris being co-captians last year, only one can wear the C at a time. I think Danny wore it at home and Chris on the road. At least that is what I heard, I never actually made sure.
