    Pro Football Weekly

A year after overpaying for DT Larry Tripplett and drafting John McCargo, the Bills are adamant about not overpaying DT Darwin Walker, whom they acquired from Philadelphia in the Takeo Spikes trade. Though Walker has two seasons remaining on his contract, he has refused to report to Buffalo until the Bills give him a substantial raise and extend his current deal. While the Bills will be disappointed if they fail to sign Walker to an extension — especially from a public-relations standpoint — they won’t be devastated. They believe Tripplett and McCargo both will step up their play in 2007. Word is, if McCargo, a first-round pick in 2006 who was limited to five games before breaking his foot, has a good training camp, he could earn a starting job. As of this writing, McCargo is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
