He signed an offer sheet with Edmonton, and Buffalo agreed to match the terms. Thus, he is effectively under contract with the Sabres.

Darcy could be waiting until the last minute to actually sign the deal. It would get back at Edmonton and not allowing them to send an offer to another RFA because of the draft pick thing.
