-- Adams Rejects Bill's Offer -- from FFMastermind.com

The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle reports free agent DT Sam Adams (Raiders) has rejected an incentive-laden contract from the Buffalo Bills and team owner Ralph Wilson said Tuesday night there's no room for negotiation. "Sam is a very good player and he could help us a lot," Wilson said. "The offer is there if he wants to take it, but there's one thing about (general manager) Tom Donahoe: He sizes up talent, their value to the team, he makes an offer and that's it. Otherwise you're going to get yourself into this game of just going up and up. We were in that cycle and we're trying to get out of (it)." The Bills, still several million dollars under the salary cap, offered Adams a contract full of incentives. It includes a signing bonus of less than $2 million. That's far below what defensive tackles of lesser or equal ability have received in free agency so far. DT Cletidus Hunt, who re-signed with Green Bay, Denver's DT Daryl Gardner and Cincinnati's DT John Thornton, each received six-year deals averaging $26 million with $5.3 million bonuses. Adams turned down an offer from the Bengals that included $5 million in up- front money because he wants to sign with Buffalo. Agent Angelo Wright said he was led to believe that a fair-market deal would get done. "It's not fair," Wright said of Buffalo's incentive-laden package. "What if Sam gets chop blocked? There are too many intangibles to risk and besides, you're asking a guy who's proven it time and again to prove himself. Sam's a very good football player, he just wants to be recognized as that."
