    Bills Draft Pick Schouman Signs

Buffalo tight end Derek Schouman became the team's third draft pick to come to terms with the Bills agreeing to a deal on Monday.

Schouman was the first of Buffalo's two seventh round picks in the 2007 NFL draft. The rookie tight end is hoping to find a niche as an H-back or 'move' tight end in Buffalo's offensive scheme which has abandoned the more traditional fullback approach.

"True fullbacks are getting harder and harder to find with teams playing more of those spread formations in college," said Bills offensive coordinator Steve Fairchild. "Tight ends are a little easier to find and they give you a little more flexibility. Derek wasn't a point of attack guy, but more of a move tight end guy. He's more in our plans for that kind of role, so we're finding out how much he can do."
